Janicki Industries selects Great Falls for massive $800 million manufacturing campus expected to create thousands of jobs

Helena, Montana – Montana has secured one of the largest private investments in its recent history after Governor Greg Gianforte announced that Janicki Industries has selected Great Falls as the location for a massive new manufacturing campus expected to create thousands of jobs and bring significant economic growth to the region.

The project represents an $800 million investment and is expected to generate more than 1,000 good-paying jobs during its first phase of development, with employment eventually exceeding 2,000 positions once the entire campus is completed.

Gov. Gianforte celebrated the announcement, calling it a major victory for Montana’s economy and workforce.

“We are thrilled to welcome Janicki Industries to Montana and celebrate the company’s $800 million investment in Great Falls,” Gov. Gianforte said. “Through its creation of over 1,000 good-paying jobs, Janicki will inspire innovation, strengthen our economy, and support our growing communities for years to come.”

Major Manufacturing Expansion Headed To Great Falls

The announcement was made during an annual meeting of the Great Falls Development Authority, where Janicki Industries President John Janicki revealed plans to establish the company’s newest manufacturing operation in Montana.

The company intends to purchase 180 acres of shovel-ready land within the AgriTech Park in Great Falls. Construction is expected to begin in July 2026, with the first phase of the campus projected to open before the end of 2027.

According to company officials, employment growth will occur over several years. Within the first five years, Janicki expects to create approximately 1,000 jobs. Once the entire campus is built and operating, the workforce could surpass 2,000 employees.

Founded in 1993, Janicki Industries is a privately owned engineering and manufacturing company known for advanced composites, precision machining, and metal fabrication. The company currently operates more than one million square feet of manufacturing space across Washington and Utah and employs more than 2,000 workers.

Growth Driven By Aerospace And Defense Demand

Company leaders explained that the decision to expand was driven by increasing demand from aerospace, defense, and space-related industries.

After conducting a multi-month search and evaluating potential locations, Janicki Industries ultimately chose Great Falls as the site for its next major investment.

John Janicki highlighted the company’s appreciation for its employees and customers while explaining why Montana appealed to the company.

“We are very thankful for our customers and grateful for the employees who continue to meet or exceed our customers’ needs,” said John Janicki, president of Janicki. “We believe in creating an environment where hard work, innovation and collaboration are rewarded, not only professionally, but through opportunities to build a life, own a home, raise a family or pursue entrepreneurial goals. Great Falls embodies the kind of community where we feel those opportunities can flourish.”

While emphasizing that Washington remains an important part of the company’s future, Janicki also cited concerns about the business climate in that state.

“Washington is our home, and that is not changing. Our footprint in Washington has continued to grow but is slowing due to ever-increasing regulations and lack of business understanding at an executive and legislative level.”

He further explained the factors that contributed to the decision to pursue growth outside Washington.

“Decisions at the state level not only make it difficult for our employees to achieve the American Dream, but it is making it difficult for us to create new jobs for future employees by investing in local growth. With this in mind, it is best for Janicki to focus its large-scale expansion into a more business-friendly environment, so we are pursuing out-of-state growth.”

Montana Leaders Highlight Business Friendly Environment

State leaders pointed to Montana’s efforts in recent years to improve the business climate and attract investment.

Since taking office, Gov. Gianforte has promoted policies aimed at reducing taxes, simplifying income tax brackets, increasing housing availability, and creating conditions intended to encourage business expansion.

The governor described Janicki’s decision as another example of employers choosing Montana because of its workforce, quality of life, and economic environment.

“The Treasure State is proud to attract job creators like Janicki that choose to expand from high-tax, high-regulation blue states to take advantage of our unmatched quality of life, lower taxes, and strong workforce. I look forward to seeing the impact of this significant investment,” the governor concluded.

With construction expected to begin next year and thousands of jobs projected over the coming decade, the development is poised to become one of the largest manufacturing investments ever announced for Great Falls, potentially transforming the local economy and strengthening Montana’s position in the aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
