Glacier National Park in Montana

Montana – Located in the northwest of Montana, Glacier National Park is a stunning example of the natural beauty and variety that the world has to offer. This vast natural haven was established on May 11, 1910. It is often called the “Crown of the Continent” because of its beautiful landscapes.

With more than one hundred years of history, Glacier National Park has seen a lot of different ways that people have used the land and how nature has changed over that time. Over 10,000 years of human activity have left signs in this area, showing that people have always had a connection with the land.

The park covers an amazing 1 million acres, making its landscape nothing short of amazing. A total of 175 mountains are spread out over three ranges: the Clark Range, the Lewis Range, and the Livingston Range. Mt. Cleveland is the highest peak at 10,448 feet above sea level. It’s scary to think that the number of named glaciers in the park has dropped from about 150 in 1850 to just 26 today because of climate change. Yet, despite these changes, the park remains a bastion of natural diversity, hosting a wide variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, wolves, mountain goats, and elk.

More than just a natural beauty, Glacier National Park is a beloved vacation spot for people who love nature and adventure. Over three million people visit the park every year, mostly between July and September, which is the busiest time. It is rated as one of the best parks in the US, which shows how popular it is.

Whether you’re drawn to hiking, boating, fishing, stargazing, bicycling, or the iconic Red Bus Tours, there’s no shortage of ways to immerse yourself in the park’s wonders. With over 700 miles of hiking trails, each bend in the path promises a new discovery. The famed Going-to-the-Sun Road, spanning 50 miles and traversing the park from east to west, serves as the main thoroughfare for many explorations, offering breathtaking views at every turn.
