Billings, Montana – On Wednesday, January 7, the Billings Public Library will a host a community driven event where everyone can speak about the mental health system in Montana.

Billings Public Library’s event is great opportunity for new suggestions
This special event, which is set to take place at the Billings Public Library’s Community Room, located at Broadway and Sixth Avenue North, will be a great opportunity for everyone to share ideas, tips, suggestions or only hear what other people think of the mental health system in Montana.
The primary focus for the organizers will be people who have had previous experience with Montana’s behavioral health system. The main idea behind the event is to learn how the system can improve overall in the future including care for mental health, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities.
The session will last for two hours from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The commission called Behavioral Health System for Future Generations (set up by House Bill 872) invites locals to share their thoughts. Rep. Bob Keenan from Big Fork, the commission’s leader, and Rep. Mike Yakawich from Billings will be there. Staff from the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services are also coming.

Several entities are behind the organization of the event
The Community Crisis Center, RiverStone Health, Billings Clinic, and St. Vincent/Intermountain Health are all working together to host this event.

The HB872 commission is scheduled to meet from noon till 5 p.m. on Jan. 11 and from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. on Jan. 12 at the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch west of Billings. The agenda will be posted at dphhs.mt.gov/futuregenerations.
