Fallon County Commission to meet on January 4, agenda confirmed

Fallon County, Montana – In an announcement that underscores the proactive approach of the Fallon County Commission, a comprehensive agenda has been set for the meeting scheduled on January 4, 2024. The day promises a series of discussions, updates, and decisions that will impact various aspects of county life, ranging from public health to road safety.

Fallon County Commission January 4 meeting to start at 9:45 a.m.

The day will kick off at 9:45 a.m. with a public comment session on agenda and non-agenda items, offering residents an opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns. This will be followed by a crucial update at 10:00 a.m. from Fallon Medical Complex (FMC) CEO David Espeland and CFO Marjorie Losing, providing insights into the healthcare facility’s operations and financial health.

A significant portion of the morning will be dedicated to discussing the safety of the local golf course. At 11:00 a.m., Golf Course Superintendent Kevin Hill, Safety Committee Member Debbie Wyrick, and HR Manager Julie Straub will present updates and make decisions regarding the golf course’s safety review.

After a noon break for the Baker Chamber of Commerce meeting at The Tavern, the commission will reconvene at 1:15 p.m. for another public comment session. This will be a crucial time for community members to engage directly with their elected officials on pressing local matters.

One of the key items on the afternoon agenda, slated for 1:30 p.m., involves a discussion about the speed limit on Coral Creek Road. Larry Singer, Trenton Harbaugh, the Sheriff, and Jeff Frank, Manager of Landfill Operations, will lead this conversation, which has significant implications for traffic safety and regulation in the area.

Public health will take center stage at 2:15 p.m. with updates from Kim Bryan, the Director of Public Health. This session is expected to provide valuable information on the health initiatives and challenges facing the county.

Mariah Miller, the Executive Director of the Chamber/Recreation Department, will provide updates at 2:30 p.m., followed by a crucial discussion on road operator wages at 3:00 p.m.. This discussion, involving key personnel like Bobby Wiedmer, Mark Sieler, Julie Straub, Debbie Wyrick, and Christa Alford, will delve into the compensation structure for road operators, a topic of interest for many in the community.

The commission will then move to approve the minutes from their December 18-21, 2023 meetings at 3:45 p.m., ensuring transparency and continuity in their proceedings.

The day will culminate in a commission work session at 4:00 p.m. This session will address a range of topics, including old business items like the Coral Creek Landfill Trust Account, gate permit system policies, and indigent burial policy. New business will also be discussed, including the approval of the Meadows Subdivision Plat, review of the Professional Services Agreement with Stahly Engineering, and decisions on various other executive and action items.
