Baker, Montana – A sudden infrastructure issue has disrupted normal services in one Montana community, as crews work to respond to a major break affecting water lines in a key area of the city.
The City of Baker announced a water service interruption following a major water main break on 3rd St. W., at the east side of Parkview II Complex, two blocks south of Cenex. The situation has prompted an immediate response from city crews, who are preparing to begin excavation work to locate and repair the damaged line.
Crews Respond to Major Water Main Break
Officials confirmed that emergency steps are already underway to ensure the repair process can move forward safely. An emergency One Call has been placed so that underground utilities in the area can be properly marked before excavation begins, reducing the risk of further damage during the repair.
Due to the severity of the break, water service will need to be temporarily shut off from Kimball Ave to the City Park and on both sides of 3rd St on that area.
Residents in the affected zones are being advised to prepare for interruptions that could last several hours, depending on how complex the repair becomes. Officials noted that the exact timing of the shutdown had not yet been determined at the time of the announcement.
